If I could give this company negative stars, I would. My wife wrote a review but somehow it was removed- no wonder this company has good reviews. Memofix quoted me $1700 to retrieve 90% of my wife’s pictures and videos from an unresponsive iPhone. It would take 2-3 weeks. I almost paid this stupid amount because the pictures and videos were are of our one year old son’s first year of life. Went to Maple Cellphone and Laptop repair and within two hours I had a fully functioning phone with all of the pictures and videos for $120!!! It’s disgusting to think Memofix would do this to people. Hopefully they get reported. You can keep removing these reviews and I’ll keep writing them. You take advantage of peopleread more

I am still wiping off the tears of joy that Memofix brought to me this summer. Our case was a little bit more rare of a case than most. At first the front staff had a feeling this was going to be a simple retrieval of data. We got a quote of 70% retrieval after we thought we might get more than that. Then we only actually got 30% back. However I have to say we still just took the 30% because the information was important. I was just a little bit disappointed we had to pay full pop for the 30 % of data. But they kind of have you in a corner at that point. Don’t let this discourage you though. If you lose your data Memofix is definitely the place to go. Robert is a technician there and is basically like superman. We are still thankful what they could retrieve and it is only our fault it is lost. My experience with Memofix was great. I had two hard drives that were in a Raid1 (mirrored) configuration, where both were electrically damaged due to a surge. The data was important to my business as well as personally, as I kept family pictures and videos on them too. Great professional service from Memofix ! I had brought them 2 failed storage devices, one 5TB portable and one desktop 500 GB HDD, both of which were totally unrecognizable when connected. They were successful in recovering all of the data from both devices! What a great relief! I cannot recommend Memofix enough!! From my initial contact with David who provided a thorough explanation of their pricing and recovery process to my ongoing contact with Bob over the time my data was being recovered. The customer service I experienced was incredible to say the least - quick email response time and went out of their way to check in on my case as I was eager to keep track of the process. While the whole process did take 3 weeks and unfortunately was not cheap, I would not hesitate to use their services again (though I have learned my lesson and hope I never have to)!! Probably you're here as you are going through the nightmare of a crashed hard drive and worrying about the loss of data. I was in a similar situation a while back and hope sharing my experience here will help others. First thing first, stop worrying and approach the situation methodically. Stop using the drive to maximize the possibility of a successful recovery and find a reputable recovery company. Now, the latter is particularly challenging task. A quick google search throws so many companies to choose from but you would soon realize there are most who are merely front ends for the ones who own a real lab and then there are big names which charge an arm and a leg for the recovery. After much research i finally settled on memofix, actually i did gave them a call twice to understand the process before making the decision and it did help a lot. They responded to the queries patiently and explained every step in a professional manner. An estimated quote was provided based on problem description which was quite reasonable. And they honored the quoted price upon successful recovery and i was able to get almost 100% of the data. Overall a great experience and i totally agree with their claim of providing quality services at reasonable price. I had dropped an external hard drive and could no longer access files. This was my personal mass back-up drive that it had some files were not stored elsewhere. I brought it to Memofix to be assessed. Data recovery is an expensive service, especially when you have to pay it out of your own pocket vs. a corporate expense account. My goal was to proceed if I could be assured that I could recover the bulk of the files that were stored, increasing the chances that I would recover some of the files that were not backed-up elsewhere. I met with Bob, the customer service representative, who was personable, helpful and is a good communicator. I had committed to paying the expense, if it was possible to meet my data recovery goals. Memofix determined that the drive heads were damaged and the drive surfaces were so scarred that they were not confident that there would be enough data recovered to make it worth my while to proceed. In the testing process, they had replaced drive heads in the lab to see if they could read anything and they were quickly damaged by the scarred surfaces. After a discussion with Bob, I decided not to proceed as the costs would outweigh the benefits in this case. Bob was great to deal with and maintained good lines of communication throughout the process. Bottom line, I found Memofix to be a very honourable company to deal with. They weren't just interested in taking my money. They were truly focused on trying to provide me with a solution that I would be comfortable with. It was disappointing in the end, but that had to deal with how damaged the drive was. I would recommend Memofix based on my experience.read more

These guys are magicians! I have had two occasions to get their help. The first was on a driving trip when a passenger in my car put my beloved BlackBerry into the cup holder after making a call. Unfortunately, there was a cup of coffee there. The device was toast. Bob Giannoulis and his lab technicians tried several different strategies that didn't work, but they didn't give up. Eventually they sent the phone to a contact in Russia and my treasured photos from that trip were recovered. (We know what great hackers the Russians are.) The second time was when my laptop suddenly exploded and burst into flames. I had 2 hard drives fail on me within a month of each other. My experience at Memofix with the first case was so positive it was a no-brainer to return with the second. Each time I've been in contact with them they have been prompt, courteous, and professional. It was very simple to submit a case and get things started; the point-person I dealt with (Bob Giannoulis) was patient, informative, and helpful throughout the whole process. They also hang on to your data for 30 days: in case something goes wrong they can provide you with the already-recovered data. Details for the interested: One of my two drives took physical damage from falling, and contained many video files from personal projects over the years. After 2-3 weeks they were able to recover many of the files, and many videos flagged as 'damaged' were alright or still had viewable segments. Large files that span a damaged drive are less likely than not to be recovered, so this was fantastic. The other drive died without impact, just while reading a file. This had all my pictures and research data going back 10 years. Before I even had a chance to approve the quote, the lab managed to recover the data (in 2 days!) with only 31 damaged files in 85,000. They allow for shipping the drives, but I made the trip in person because it was convenient. Their location is locked 24/7 and you must buzz to enter, for everyone's data security (I presume). Awesome customer service! Bob was an absolute delight to deal with. and went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. I lost everything on my hard drive and Memofix was able to recover most of my photos and information. I turned to Memofix after having sent my hard drive to a competitor. The quote from the competitor came back at almost triple the price! This is when I turned to Memofix and not only did they recover most of my information, they reduced the price originally quoted as 100% was not recovered! Once the lab did their recovery work, my hard drive was returned to me quickly and I was so pleased about this. I would highly recommend Memofix! WOW. What an experience!! Memofix is truly unlike other companies in the way they do business. They were able to recover all my data in 24 hours. I don't know anything about data recovery and the process of how to fix hard drives but Bob made sure to walk me through every step of their proceedings, detailing exactly the kind of work that they will take on. This helped in understanding the rate that was quoted, which was free of charge - unlike so many other companies that are willing to take advantage of young inexperienced customers! This is the only place to go if you have damaged hard drives since they have the lab on site, it ensures timely service (they don't send off your drive to various undisclosed locations like many of the competitors). Communication was excellent and diligence was impeccable during a time when stress levels were high, it really made all the difference.read more

I recently had the misfortune of having all my Data erased from my Hard Drive. I called several computer experts who tried but were unsuccessful. Where do i start... well. I had purchased a new harddrive online of which is used as a backup. In middle of transferring data, both harddrive failed. With ticking noise the chances of things being fixed as I was told was slim by many companies. Now I talked to Bob and David over the phone and they were very informative about the process and the cost. A TRUSTED LAB. I waited about 6 months until i pulled the trigger and went with it. -now the initial quote was actually 1400-1600 however the final cost was even lower than that! Not only did they recover my data but 99% of it despite being told a lot of my files were difficult to read. The ones that weren't recoverable was still able to open but possibly slightly corrupted. To me it wasnt a huge deal as I already had a backup of those. I had personal and business information and trusted no other than Memofix. to wrap it up, they shipped it earlier than I thought before I was away from the city for a reasonable price. Absolutely the best! 100% professional! The other day I plugged in my external HD only to find it not working. 10 years worth of personal photos potentially gone. I called Memofix and Bob returned my call promptly, explaining how they could help. They even had a free courier service to come pick up the HD from me since I was at work and not able to make it to Vaughan. They were in touch multiple times throughout the process with quotes, advice, progress, and eventually the successful finished product, which they also shipped to me. I even bought a 4TB HD from them where they put the files onto, at a very reasonable price. Overall I was super impressed with the thorough, conscientious, and professional service I received. My hard drive stopped working. I tried to fix it myself which was a big mistake. I brought it to Memofix, they assessed the drive and gave me a quote. They have worked on the hard drive for a few days, but unfortunately were not able to recover any data. Therefore the service was at no charge. The costumer service is great, Bob is very polite, professional and quick to respond. They have a very unique service. If you have any issue with your memory hardware, please don't try to fix it yourself.read more

I emailed them my problem. They called back as promised within 24 hours. Bob called and we fixed an appointment. I dropped off my decade old laptop that had old pictures on it. They were able to recover all the data in 24 hours. I was given a quote and that is exactly what I paid. Great service, very impressed. Thanks Bob

I am so glad I went to Memofix to fix my hard drive. They were able to recover all of my files especially my raw photos. Bob was really helpful and he's really patient with me. He responded quickly and were able to tell me what happened. They were very honest and upfront about price unlike Canada Computers who tried to scam me by reformatting my drive for no reason just so that they can get more money out of me.
